Savannah, GA

After a few days stuck in NC, I was finally back up on the road and made it Savannah, GA. Big thanks to David’s Towing and Customs in Roanoke Rapids for getting everything straight! Y’all rock!

Savannah is one very cool town. Founded in 1733, it is was of the older major cities in the South. During Sherman’s March to the Sea in the Civil War, Savannah was one city he could not burn because it was “too beautiful.” The slow pace and feelings of southern hospitality create a very relaxed and fun vibe. The old architecture, the history, food, and beautiful parks are what draw people to this wonderful city. I have only been able to see it in passing, so I will definitely need to make a long trip sometime soon. With that being said, my favorite place to go to is Moon River Brewing Company.

Moon River Brewing Company

This brewery and restaurant has a long and very interesting past. Seen on many paranormal/ghost hunting shows, Moon River is known as the Haunted Brewery. They still give tours and have people come from all over the world to see if they can catch something spooky. So in that case, I guess you never really drink alone here. While I could go on and on about ghosts, there is a lot more to Moon River than that. They have some great beers and amazing food. They have a nice outside patio bar which is where I found myself. The warm air and hearing all the activities of Savannah going on made it very easy to relax. I ordered the Kilty by Association Scottish Ale and a BYO burger. Both of which were absolutely amazing. I did ask for the Moon River style house sauce on the side for my burger which, look just trust me on this one and thank me later. SO GOOD!!! If you’re in the historic district and looking for food and drinks AND GHOSTS, Moon River is your one stop shop!

Rogue Water Tap House

As I was walking down to get food, I noticed this place, Rogue Water Tap House. I can’t really saw what caught my attention to it but I knew I wanted to come back after dinner and check it out. I’m so glad I did! This hole in the wall dive bar is a very cool local spot. Just outside the hustle and bustle of the downtown Savannah bars and clubs, this spot reminded me a lot of some of the local bars in New Orleans but with a different attitude. Everyone there all seemed to know each other so tells me this is a local watering hole for the Scene Kids and local musicians. Being able to drink my PBR and listen to post-punk music made me very happy. A very chill, no stress, and carefree environment with a fun spunky vibe. Thanks you Mike behind the bar keeping the good times going and hearing about my adventure so far. If you look for dive bars off the main stretch, add this one to the list!
